By 2017, WhatsApp no longer works on all these smartphones

The WhatsApp instant messaging application will end its support for many smartphones by the end of 2016. These are, in most cases, aging devices that will no longer be able to use Latest versions of the application. The users concerned will have to change mobile phone to continue to enjoy it.
As of 1 January 2017, WhatsApp will therefore officially no longer work on devices running Android 2.1 (Eclair) and Android 2.2 (Froyo). Both versions were released in 2009 and 2010, and are officially no longer supported by Google. As for Apple, the iPhone 3GS will also not be supported at the same date, as will all Apple devices running iOS 6, so check to see if an update is available for your iPhone or iPad to a newer version. Finally, smartphones running Windows Phone 7 will also not be able to launch the latest versions of the application by 2017.
WhatsApp had announced the fateful date last February, in a note on its official blog that has just been updated recently. The application announces a respite for certain devices and systems that should have suffered the same fate as of January 1, but which will be supported until June 30, 2017. These include the Blackberry OS, Blackberry 10, Nokia Symbian S60 and the Nokia S40.
